Our adaptive dance program began in 2018 with our staff being certified with Rhythm Works Integrative Dance. The lead teacher, Miss Kristin, has since earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and adapted our studio's dance program to accommodate to physical therapy goals/activities that students may have and with parent permission can be in contact with your child's therapist to create an individual plan to include similar goals through dance and therapy services.

 

Our adaptive program revolves around movement fundamentals that “utilizes rhythm, music, and movement” while providing benefits including 

• Targeting all 5 domains (emotional/social, cognitive, motor, communicative, self-help/adaptive)

• Filling a gap that education & community miss

• De-stigmatizing disability

• Increasing opportunities for positive social interactions

We have extended our adaptive program to provide adaptive gymnastics classes at the beginner and intermediate level. We are able to provide extra assistants/staff to these classes and each student works individually on his/her own mat to excel at his/her own pace through tumbling skills.

Our adaptive program originates from RHYTHM WORKS Integrative Dance, which is a specialized, but inclusive, dance class for people with individual learning differences and other special needs. Based on the Hip Hop Made Easy Program our classes use rhythm and dance (ballet, tap, jazz, & hip hop) to assist in achieving goals across the 5 developmental domains.

We strive to provide a 1:1 instructional ratio and invite a family member to participate with your student in our dance classes to assist our staff with any accommodations and help keep our student to staff ratio small to ensure the best quality of instructional time.

Adaptive dance will be on our 1st floor studio which is Handicap Accessible

Adaptive gymnastics is on our 1st floor studio and requires prior confirmation via email before registering to ensure medical clearance and we have additional staff available.
